The most famous role of the actor is Valiko Mizandari from “Mimino”.

Last weekend was really black for everyone who grew up in Soviet cinema: after the news of the death of Inna Churikova, another sad news came – Vakhtang Kikabidze was gone.

Until the end of his days, the brilliant actor and singer remained as we all remember him: majestic, charismatic, irresistible. In Russia, they loved him very much and were ready to forgive everything, including harsh and at least controversial political statements. Otherwise, in such a situation, it would be easy to anathematize, but the true love of people sometimes works wonders, for which Vakhtang Konstantinovich was forgiven a lot: they say, well, it happens, hot Caucasian blood … Probably, the viewers Russians just don’t even want to think that good Buba (that’s what everyone called the artist) can be an enemy. And really, how can you not like the one and only Valiko Mizandari from “Mimino” or Benjamin Glonti from “Don’t Cry!”? And if one of the popular actors, with his rash statements, sometimes causes a desire to respond harshly and even rudely, then I always wanted to turn to Vakhtang Konstantinovich with the words of his star partner Frunzik Mkrtchyan: “I’ll tell you one smart thing But don’t be offended…”

Kikabidze’s destructive charm helped him play even scoundrels without interference from the status of the people’s favorite; remember at least the CIA agent Glebb from the saga “TASS is authorized to testify.” After all, the actor could ask you to give him the role of a brave KGB officer; in this image, he would definitely look great and would not risk losing the public’s taste. But he didn’t think about such nonsense, as if realizing that his audience would be accepted in any one of them seemed like the most losing role.

The artist did not think about the “problems” that are so relevant to some of his colleagues – how to preserve youth. It was hard to imagine this true Caucasian as a plastic surgery clinic patient getting liposuction or a circular facelift, then reporting the results on social media. Because of this, he would certainly stop respecting himself. Well, in the end, it was not for nothing that Buba himself once sang that his years were his wealth. And this real, and not ostentatious, masculinity also always captivated the public, who understood how few outstanding artists on stage and screen could not play heroes and at the same time save face.

Vakhtang Kikabidze died

Looking at Kikabidze, many often repeated the hackneyed phrase: “Yes, they don’t make them like that anymore…”. Like Inna Churikova, Vakhtang Konstantinovich was a unique person from our beautiful Soviet past, whose hopeless nostalgia was partly due to the fact that stars of such serious caliber were shining on the screen at that time. Unfortunately, every day this past is further away from us…
