Now you can walk online through the estate of Vasily Polenov, located in the Tula region. Here we present an updated virtual tour of the artist’s main places.

You can walk around the territory using virtual reality glasses.

As the author of the project, Artemy Furman, explained, the changes affected both the technical solution of the site and its visual aesthetic component. Everything was adapted for tablets and smartphones. Now the traveler can even choose the time of year.

The tour consists of three routes. And for the first time you can visit Behovo and Strakhovo. And walk around the territory with virtual reality glasses.

For example, let’s go to Behovo. We walked along the path towards the Church of the Holy Trinity and admired the beautiful scenery along the way. We entered the temple and then went to the rural cemetery and the viewpoint. Here you can zoom in on all objects to look at them closely, connect the panorama and walk around.

The tour also includes photographs from Vasily Polenov’s family album and music by Vasily Dmitrievich.

Vasily Polenov is a famous Russian painter of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1890 he bought land in the village of Bekhovo on the upper bank of the Oka River in the Tula province. And he built an entire estate here according to his own design. And then he moved his family here from Moscow.

Here he painted pictures and sets for a peasant theater, built schools and a church, planted trees abroad, and opened a public museum.

After the artist’s death in 1927, the museum was headed by his son, biology professor Dmitry Polenov. Four years later, the property’s museum was renamed the Vasily Polenov House-Museum. So the museum was run by his grandson, the grandson’s widow. And since 2011, the artist’s great-granddaughter, Natalya Fedorovna, has been engaged in this. The family managed to preserve the estate as the great artist created it.
