Viktor & Rolf shows are more like artistic performances than regular fashion shows. Horsting and Snoren describe the idea of the new season as clichéd couture gowns, with embroidered bodices and layered skirts, that “weird things happen.” Some dresses move away from the body, as if they were made of paper. Others fall horizontally, as if the model and her outfit collided at right angles. Others generally stay within a stone’s throw of their owner. There were also “backwards” dresses, which rested on the hips. The designs on these chiffon art objects are 3D printed.
