Vincent Cassel, whose paintings include “The Black Swan” and “Irreversibility,” will star in the film “Opera!” The name of the tape justifies the presence in the cast of the opera singers Mariam Battistelli and Rama Lahai. Variety writes about it.
The project will be developed by Showlab and RAI Cinema with the participation of Dolce & Gabbana, who will be in charge of costume design.
The film will be directed by Davide Livermore and Paolo Gep Cucco, famous directors of many opera productions. They went down in history as the only ones to present the world premiere at La Scala four times in a row. Davide is the director of the Genoa National Theater and Gep Cucco is the creative director of D-wok.
“Opera!” will present a modern version of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. In the new adaptation of the myth, Eurydice is shot to death on his wedding day. Orpheus, “devastated by the loss of his beloved, will go in search of the kingdom of Hades, better known as Hell”, which in this world is housed in the Grand Hotel Hades.
“This is a story about a cruel fate, two heartbroken lovers and one man’s journey. This is the story of all stories. Tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus will face off against Pluto, Proserpina and their delusions in a stunning kaleidoscopic musical where the most famous operatic arias will breathe new life into the myth of Orpheus.” They described the project as “a journey into the human soul,” the directors said.
Vincent Cassel will star in David Cronenberg’s Shrouds. The cast also includes Guy Pearce and Diane Kruger. Kruger will replace Lea Seydoux in the film, who dropped out of the film for unknown reasons.
