“Despite the obvious advantages of educational migration, Russians in most cases continue their studies in the same region where they received their general education,” sociologists report.
According to their data, another 15 percent decide to go to study in another region of Russia and 8 percent are willing to study in a neighboring region.
A study on internal migration showed that 74 percent of our compatriots do not plan to move anywhere. 13 percent are ready to move to another region of the country, and 3 percent are ready to leave Russia abroad. 2 percent plan to return to their hometowns where they went to school.
Of Russians who are willing to move, 10 percent are looking to move to Moscow or the Moscow region. Krasnodar came in second in popularity, with 8 percent of respondents wanting to get there. 6 percent are willing to travel to St. Petersburg, 3 to Yekaterinburg and 3 to Sochi. Tyumen, Kaliningrad, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Crimea and Europe each got 2 percent. Other settlements in Russia that were interesting to move to were also named. 16 percent refused to answer the question.
