In terms of cereal and industrial crop yields, the company is among the leaders in the sector. Here, much attention is paid to work with fertilizers and agricultural practices, the equipment park is constantly updated thanks to various government support instruments. In addition, the company develops livestock farming, currently producing 1,200 heads of cattle.
According to Nikolai Leontyev, director of SHP Olimp-Agro LLC and honorary worker of the Russian agro-industrial complex, this year the company is cultivating 19 thousand hectares. Ten varieties of wheat have been sown, as well as sunflowers, peas and chickpeas. The company employs about 110 employees. They are currently preparing for the harvest; due to the warm weather, they plan to start work a week earlier than usual.
“The weather is not favourable now, it is hot and we will lose part of the harvest,” explained the farm manager.
“If we objectively see that the harvest was lost due to weather conditions and flooding, we are ready to compensate you for the regional budget component. We need to consider the amount,” Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said to the Acting Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Samara Region Nikolai Abashin. “The regional state of emergency is still far away, but we need to prepare, look at the weather, prepare proposals so that they are not agreed upon later, but plan events now. Such support must be provided.”
Despite the bad weather, the farm’s yield is provisionally estimated at about 60 centners per hectare. The head of the region discussed with the head of the farm and the acting minister the issue of maintaining agricultural equipment and purchasing new household equipment. “We are now working on a program: we will carefully analyze support measures with the head of the ministry, we will see what to reinforce. You also have your proposals, please, it is clear that you have a lot of work now. Go ahead,” Vyacheslav Fedorishchev turned to Nikolai Leontyev and suggested meeting here in a month at an external meeting of the regional government and discuss support measures in depth.
