Warner Bros. has dropped the Arkham Asylum series from the Batman universe. The project about villains was supposed to be released on the Max streaming service, Variety writes.

The series was developed by showrunner Antonio Campos, known for the film “The Devil Is Always Here” with Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson and the show “The Staircase.” The studio decided not to continue the cooperation, but it is possible that work could be resumed.

The project was first discussed in 2020. It was then conceived as a series about the Gotham cops from Matt Reeves’ Batman. The Sopranos director and writer Terence Winter was attached to the show. However, he was later replaced by Joe Barton, who also left after three months.

The trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s “Trap” starring Josh Harnett was released earlier. The film is scheduled for release on August 1. We discuss it in more detail here.
