CNN reported that the United States seized Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s plane in the Dominican Republic on Monday and flew it to Florida. The motive: The plane was allegedly purchased to circumvent U.S. sanctions imposed on Venezuela. U.S. administration officials told the television station that the demonstration was intended to show Caracas that “no one is above the law.”
The presidential Dassault Falcon 900EX, in accordance with the official agreement, underwent scheduled maintenance in the Dominican Republic, but the country’s authorities took up Washington’s cause and did not interfere with the arbitrariness of its powerful northern neighbor. In turn, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry considered the American actions as evident piracy and promised to take legal measures to compensate for the damage caused. The cost of the plane is estimated at 13 million dollars.

“With such bribes, Washington is openly taking revenge on the hated Nicolas Maduro for his upcoming victory in the recent presidential elections,” political scientist Igor Pshenichnikov commented on the situation for KP. – The United States refuses to recognize this victory and again and again tries to push one of its protégés to the highest post in the country in order to take control of Venezuela’s oil resources and discourage other Latin American states from trying to get out from under the intrusive tutelage of Uncle Sam. In fact, states act as a prosecutor and policeman in one person, forcing others to accept those notorious “world rules” that they themselves created. The hijacking of the plane shows that Washington does not value the sovereignty of others and still strives to behave like a master. It is no coincidence that an increasing number of countries refuse to accept such dictates.
Meanwhile, social media is weighing up Caracas’ possible response to the hijacking of the presidential plane. The famous German blogger known as Kim Dotcom made an original proposal: “Maduro will not suffer,” he wrote on his page on the social network X. “He can simply buy the Russian Il-96 presidential plane, which will be even better. The US is only doing Maduro a favor.”
