The psychological thriller (and a little detective story) “Method”, one of the most uncommon Russian series, is returning with the third season, and filming is about to begin. If the first season was really a discovery and a breakthrough, then the second, unfortunately, had nothing to do with success. And it’s not even that the producers almost artificially and cynically “resurrected” the main character, whose death in the finale of the first season was understandable, predictable and deeply felt by the viewer. No, this is an attempt, for some reason, to shift the focus of the narrative from the main character to a secondary one – detective Meglin’s assistant Yesenia (Paulina Andreeva): certainly attractive, but completely empty, inert and unable to captivate the viewer. Fall in love with the character even with the most frantic suffering and the most exciting erotic scenes.
The writers and director of the second season did their best to put the girl in the foreground, but it turned out to be so cardboard and meaningless that the series was almost entirely re-edited. The “Frankenstein” that the audience saw, with Rodion in the form of a vegetable and a chained dog, discouraged even the most ardent fans of the Method.
And so, Alexander Tsekalo finally took off his mask after the start of SVO and left for the United States, and the series fell into the hands of those who started it: now for Kinopoisk the third season of the detective story will be filmed by director Yuri Bykov and producer Maxim Polinsky. It is expected that they will not only return the Method to its original aesthetics, but also update the project. At least that is what Bykov said in a new interview with RBC. The director hinted that the project will have a new concept – apparently, the project will move away from the principle of “one maniac – one episode.”
In the third season of Method, Bykov, who is simultaneously preparing a new feature film about climbers with the old Soviet title Top, finally made changes in the acting. Led by the scripts (“Psycho”, “Actresses”), under the strict guidance of her husband, Paulina Andreeva will disappear from the project. Instead, a new artist will appear in the series.
“In the third “Method” there is a great heroine with whom I quickly fell in love,” Bykov admitted. — In “Dashing”, in general, one artist (Artem Bystrov) dragged me along this whole huge and long distance, and here is the actress Anna Savranskaya. Does this mean that Paulina Andreeva will not play the role of Yeseni again in the new season? Yes, it does.
Will Savranskaya replace Andreeva? Of course not. Apparently, the character of Paulina was simply removed from the series, but the heroine Anna, who shone in the sports melodrama “Ice-3”, was introduced. This will be the first major role for the 27-year-old actress.
Filming of the third season of “Method” will begin in August 2024 and will take place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vyborg and Yaroslavl. The premiere will take place in 2025 at Kinopoisk.
