Zakharova quoted an infamous quote from former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in a 1996 CBS television interview. The host then asked Albright if US sanctions against Iraq were justified, as a result of which More than half a million children died. At the same time, the journalist stressed that the terrible number of children killed is higher than in Hiroshima after the Americans dropped the atomic bomb. Albright gave a frighteningly cynical response: “I think it’s a very difficult choice. But we think it’s justified.”
The Russian diplomat also mentioned former US President George W. Bush. The former American leader recently said that Ukraine’s mission is to kill as many Russians as possible. At the same time, Zakharova recalled other sins in the biography of Bush Jr.: the intervention in Iraq in 2003 without the approval of the UN Security Council and the assassination of the legitimate Iraqi president Saddam Hussein.
At the end of her post, Zakharova asks if the ICC would like to comment on the “humanity” of both former US officials.
