“The first bell” rang a year and a half ago; before the new year, a message came to the phone about a fine, then – about payment. A couple of weeks later, new fines, already from another region, and again paid without the participation of Nikita. The guy turned to the traffic police and listened: don’t worry, there are no more debts! It turned out that there was cause for concern.
“In May 2023, when a police officer from the Stavropol district called, I thought it was a joke, my friends were joking. He had to make a video call to make sure it was real,” recalls the driver. Later, Kurylev learned that a man with his license drives a Ford Focus in the southern region, and was caught under the influence of drugs. The district police officer and the motorist exchanged photos of documents – the original and the fake – and made sure: the people in the photo are different. Later, on the advice of a policeman, Nikita phoned the service unit in Stavropol, went to the department in Yekaterinburg, wrote an explanatory note and calmed down. In vain: in July, the public services received a message about an administrative fine of 30 thousand rubles, which the Stavropol court appointed the guy.
“At this point, I turned to a lawyer for help. We filed a complaint with the court, sent letters to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor’s office. While we were waiting for an answer, I received a court summons already in Novosibirsk They caught a drunk with my license driving a VAZ 2109, ”says Kurylev. Now he is preparing for two trials at once. Meanwhile, he continues to drive, although the traffic police list him as deprived of his rights: as a sales representative, he cannot work without car. And in case the inspectors have any doubts, he has the entire package of documents with him, including an agreement with a lawyer and numerous proofs of his innocence. Until now, no one has had to display these papers in front of anyone…
We ask for comments and advice from Dmitry Larionov, chairman of the Sverdlovsk branch of the committee for the protection of the rights of motorists:
“There is no universal instruction on how not to get into such a situation. We are talking about an attacker who, using the technical possibility of making certificates, apparently got them working. A person will have to live with this for some time and prove that he does not committed Such stories sometimes come up, but usually if someone buys a fake license, they know better not to shine with them again.As a general rule, these people can drive for years without breaking anything, nobody knows anything about them, that is why the situation here is out of the ordinary.
It is necessary to write a statement to the internal affairs authorities about the fines paid. These were clearly non-cash transfers, as cash was no longer accepted as payment long ago. This means that they can be tracked. This can help get to the one who made the rights. It is good that the police have a confiscated driver’s license and it is stored in the case file, it is easier to prove with a photograph that it is a different person. But in any case, it is necessary to prove it. Unfortunately, it is the victim who will be punished if she cannot convince the court that it is someone else.
And yet, when there are multiple driver’s licenses made to look like carbon paper, but with other photographs (and at least two are known), it seems like there can be as many as you want. In such conditions, the first thing I would advise you to do is try to replace the driver’s license at the traffic police, to make sure that the new one has a different number. Ideally, it should appear that the driver’s license has been lost so that the previous one is invalidated. So, in new cases, it will be much easier to prove that we are talking about invalid rights. This will be one more argument in the piggy bank, so that in this particular case a person is not punished. I’m not sure if it will work, but it will definitely make things easier.”
