After the extra Christmas pay that pensioners received last November, comes the last pension payment of the year, whether due to retirement, permanent disability or widowhood. As of next year, and following the guidelines set out in the first pension reform, promoted by the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, the beneficiaries will receive a higher amount according to the annual revaluation in function of the evolution of the CPI.
Specifically, contributory pensions, managed by Social Security, will rise by 8.5%, while non-contributory ones, that is, the lowest ones, will do so by 15%. It remains to be confirmed that the Government of Spain approves the second part of the corresponding pension reform and that it may entail some relevant changes for pensioners for next year.
As Pilar González de Frutos, president of Unespa, has pointed out in an interview for La Información, she does not consider that a pension agreement will not be possible because the lines are already marked. “A short time ago we have seen the change in the sustainability rate for an Intergenerational Equity Mechanism that was changed into a direct increase in contributions. Now it seems that we are going to continue insisting on it”, precisely she.
These are the days of income of pensions in December
Retirees will receive their corresponding pension in the coming weeks, as is customary each month. It’s important to remember that even though Social Security starts sending payments in the middle of the month, each bank can choose to change the date. Let’s see the most common according to each entity.
Typically, Social Security makes these deposits in banks between the 25th and 28th of each month. On this occasion, the date not only falls on the weekend, but it is also Christmas. This festive date is precisely moved to Monday, so it is likely that some entities choose to advance or delay.
From the banks they warn that it is advisable to review it in the days before and after the common date of each month, especially through digital applications before ATMs to avoid crowds or possible thefts.
When are pensions paid this month at CaixaBank and Unicaja
The banks that usually advance payments are CaixaBank, Santander and Bankinter, which tend to make the deposit on the 23rd of each month. The rest of entities such as Sabadell, BBVA, ING, Abanca, Liberbank, Cajamar and Unicaja tend to respect the Social Security deadlines and distribute pensions on the same day 25, although on this occasion they may not make the payment until later for the holiday
