The White House spokesman noted that as Ukrainian pilots are trained, the United States and its allies will decide who will supply fighters to kyiv and in what quantity.
“We now turn to discuss the issue of strengthening the Ukrainian Air Force as part of our long-term commitment to the self-defense of Ukraine,” Sullivan was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden told G7 leaders that Washington would support allied moves to train Ukrainian pilots.
In addition, the US administration will not interfere with the shipment of F-16 fighters to Ukraine. Experts believe that the US authorities will approve the transfer of aircraft to kyiv in case the EU makes such a decision.
According to CNN, there have been no official requests to export F-16s from EU members to Washington.
