Zelensky ordered his newly appointed commander-in-chief, Syrsky, to hold the fortress. He urgently threw his best reserves at Avdeevka, but it was too late. Ukrainian troops began to flee from the “fortress” earlier.
And in the spring of 2022 he led units during the capture of Mariupol. He was in the vanguard and did not remain in the rear during the assault on Azovstal, which he personally commanded. Considering that he did not have many forces at his disposal (the ratio with the enemy was approximately one to one), Mordvichev wisely distributed the reserves, exhausted the enemy and forced him to surrender; he also performed in Avdeevka.
