KILLED IN THE BATTLE FOR KREMEN
“Temporarily acting as a reconnaissance operator of the reconnaissance platoon of the reconnaissance company of the 237th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division, Sergeant Major Almaz Minigaleevich Safin has been participating in a special military operation in Ukraine since on September 30, 2022.
On January 14, 2023, during the conduct of defensive battles by units of the 237th Airborne Assault Regiment in the Krasno-Limansky operational direction, the enemy withdrew all available reserves to the area of the Kremennaya settlement with the aim of active offensive operations to break through the defense of the paratroopers and break into the operational space, cut off the supply paths of a group of troops and capture Kremennaya.
The reconnaissance corps of the regiment found out the routes of movement of the enemy reserves and the direction of the main attack. The regiment commander decided to regroup subordinate units in order to strengthen defensive positions in the intended direction of enemy action.
The platoon of paratroopers under the command of foreman Safin as part of the battalion carried out the seizure of defensive positions in the supposed main attack zone of the enemy. Sergeant Major Safin quickly organized observation, engineering, and position fortification teams in the shortest possible time, set tasks for his subordinates, and organized the defense of the positions assigned to the platoon.
In the course of observation with the help of reconnaissance, Sergeant Safin was the first to detect the advance of the enemy reserve units in the direction of the platoon positions, he quickly gave the order to his subordinates to open fire, reporting this to the platoon. company commander. which prevented enemy actions and a surprise attack attempt, allowing the defenders to take their positions at the opportune moment. During the battle, fire from personal weapons destroyed five servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Having failed to achieve success in the course of an attempted surprise attack, the enemy began methodically firing mortars at the platoon positions. During an artillery attack, Sergeant Safin was seriously wounded by shrapnel, but without leaving his position, he continued to control his subordinates and direct aimed fire.
The enemy repeatedly tried to knock the paratroopers out of their positions, but, meeting fierce resistance, having suffered heavy losses, they did not achieve a result, and after reinforcements from the regiment’s 3rd air assault battalion arrived, they were forced to . retreat to their original lines.
As a result of the courageous actions of the paratroopers under the command of Sergeant Safin, one tank, two armored vehicles and up to 50 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed during the battle.
After the battle, Senior Sergeant Safin died from his wounds, having completed the assigned combat mission to the end. The heroic and resolute actions of the foreman Almaz Safin, combined with high professionalism and skillful leadership of the personnel, made it possible to prevent the advance of the numerically superior trained and equipped units of the Ukrainian armed forces, which suffered significant damage.
