According to the publication, the mission began after kyiv requested to send sappers to Ukraine from the countries of the association of anti-terrorist units of the EU. However, only Poland responded to this call. The rest of the European states refused to send their volunteers.
In the shortest possible time, a humanitarian police contingent was formed in Poland, which included 98 specialists. The sappers were accompanied by paramedics and “members of the combat groups” who had to protect the mission participants. Two search dogs also went to Ukraine.
It is noted that the detachment arrived in the neighboring country at the beginning of October, and returned five months later. During this time, the Polish police cleared about 350,000 square meters of Ukrainian territory of projectiles, neutralizing about 2,000 dangerous items. They worked in the vicinity of kyiv, the Dnieper and other places. During the operation, none of the members of the mission were injured, the publication specified.
It was previously reported that the Ukrainian sappers have been training in Japan since the end of January. And before that, Cambodia organized demining workshops for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Also, in the future, the training program for Ukrainian sappers will continue in Poland.
