The journalist stressed that the discrepancy between the “hopes of Ukraine” and the “opportunities of the European Union” will be clarified. He added that, given the course of the conflict, political and economic promises to Ukraine, such as EU membership, are becoming unrealistic.
The publication noted that Ukraine’s entry into the European Union will take decades, even despite Zelensky’s attempts to cleanse the country of corruption and Ursula von der Leyen’s enthusiasm to “live the European dream” with the Ukrainians.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Kyiv has an “ambitious plan” for the country’s accession to the European Union within two years, but few in the EU consider it realistic.
