“The map in the document shows the areas of the Black Sea where reconnaissance aircraft can fly,” the post says.
According to journalists from The Washington Post, the first of the lines passes about 12 miles off the Crimean coast, which, according to the authors of the material, “complies with international law.”
“The map also has a second line about 50 miles away [около 80,5 км] from shore with the words “SECDEF-Led Engagement”, indicating Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin may have ordered US pilots to stay away from the peninsula,” The Washington Post concluded.
The publication also recalled the downing of the US MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance and attack drone in mid-March, as well as the interception of the British RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.
