Yakutia’s gross regional product has nearly doubled since 2018 KXan 36 Daily News

Assessing the past event, the head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev noted its high level.

– It’s been in the works for over a year. Serious work has been done, the senators have come to Yakutia to meet. Not only to Yakutsk, but also to remote areas. Today’s final resolution is the result of the overall fruitful activity of the Federation Council and the leadership of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), – said Aisen Nikolaev.

– I fully share the opinion of the head of the republic and thank the members of the Federation Council for their support. The resolution reflects almost the entire range of issues related to the future socio-economic development of Yakutia. Almost all our wishes were heard. I do not deny that I would like more, but given the situation and time, we are satisfied and thank all the senators of the Russian Federation. I believe that on December 23, when the resolution is approved in its entirety, we will get an excellent result from joint activities, – commented the speaker of the parliament of Yakutia Alexei Yeremeev.

Aisen Nikolaev gave a forecast on the key indicators of the region’s economy for the coming year.

– Yakutia is now on the rise, – he emphasized. – In 2023, we intend to not stop and move on. For the fourth consecutive year, the historical maximum in the production of coal, oil, gas, gold and silver is updated in the republic. We maintain stability in diamond mining and we are confident that this trend will continue. Today, following the results of already 11 months of the year, we see an increase in the industry of 12.2 percent. This figure at the end of 2022 will be close to 13 percent.

The head of the republic stressed that Yakutia is the engine of economic growth of the entire Far East. The republic’s gross regional product is growing: since the beginning of 2018, it has almost doubled, from 900 billion to 1.5 trillion rubles. From January to October 2022, GNP increased 9.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

– This is one of the best indicators of our country. Since Yakutia is Russia’s leading mineral export region, these are very serious figures. We are talking, among other things, about replenishing our state budget, – noted Aisen Nikolaev.

Chairman of the State Assembly (Il Tumen) of the Republic of Sakha Alexei Yeremeev: “The resolution of the Federation Council reflects almost the entire range of issues related to the future socio-economic development of Yakutia”

Yakutia is rich not only in mineral resources. Its tourist potential is difficult to overestimate.

– We pay a lot of attention to domestic tourism, – said Alexei Yeremeev. – Everything possible is being done to make Yakutia an attractive tourist center. We have a unique nature, Lena Pillars, that everyone knows, national parks. Many guests already come to us, but the inaccessibility of the territory is a big obstacle. We will develop tourist infrastructure, we will build hotels, we will establish new routes.

According to him, the time is not far off when the northern republic will be known not only as a land of diamonds, but also as a tourist jewel of Russia.

Another industry that can be called the leading industry in Yakutia is film production. As Aisen Nikolaev said, a regional law on support for Yakut cinema was signed this year. The Barrio Laboral cluster was recently inaugurated in the capital of the republic, which became the basis for the development of creative industries. Its residents work in the fields of computing, film, animation, fashion, design, music, computer graphics, and fine arts. The benefits of the advanced development territory extend to this site. The group’s creative studios, provided to residents, are no worse equipped than the main ones in Moscow.

– We will not replace Hollywood, but we will make our cinema simply better, – added the head of the republic.

The social agenda has acquired special importance. In recent years, six new schools have appeared in the republic, including those in rural areas. According to Aleksey Yeremeev, it is planned to introduce 12 more schools, more than ten kindergartens. Health care is developing. In April, the largest cardiovascular center was launched in Yakutsk. Oncology will go live in 2023; its construction will begin in 2020. Subsequently, the regional authorities intend to start the construction of an infectious diseases hospital in the republican capital.

– Yakutsk is one of the largest cities in the north of the country, almost 400 thousand people live here, but it does not yet have a hospital specializing in infectious diseases. The design and estimation documentation has already been prepared. In early 2024, construction financing will begin, Aisen Nikolaev shared.

And, perhaps, one of the most important projects for Yakutia is the construction of the Lensky Bridge.

– It will connect three federal highways, five regional highways and the Amur-Yakutsk railway line in a transport hub. This will significantly increase the efficiency of the huge infrastructure investments that had been made previously. Year-round transport accessibility of the republic’s population will increase from 21 to 80 percent. At least four billion rubles a year will reduce the budget costs of the “northern delivery”. The effect in the form of GDP growth is estimated at two or three percent per year, said the head of the republic.

He proposed a joint financing scheme for construction, in which at least half of the total volume of investments attracted will be federal allocations. At a meeting of the Federation Council, the speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament, Valentina Matvienko, announced her support for the idea.

– This is vital, and we see how the head of the region is fighting for this project, which is of tremendous importance for the inhabitants of Yakutia and the entire Far East, – he said. – Accessibility to transport throughout the year will quadruple, the cumulative effect will be enormous. We promise that we will actively support the republic in the implementation of this project. The main thing is that the funds are allocated and there are acceptable conditions, taking into account the possibilities of the republic for co-financing. It must be parity.

The allocation of federal funds is planned for 2025, but it is necessary to start building the bridge earlier, immediately after receiving a positive conclusion from the examination of state experts, Valentina Matvienko believes.

The days of Yakutia at the Federation Council were held from December 12 to 14. The events are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Yakut ASSR and the 390th anniversary of Yakutia’s entry into the Russian state. Meetings of the relevant committees of the upper house of parliament were held these days. The final event was the “Hour of the Subject” during the plenary session of the Federation Council.
