2023 marks the 20th anniversary of Y-3, a collaboration between Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto and sportswear brand adidas. In honor of the anniversary, they founded a division of the brand, which was called Y-3 Atelier. Hypebeast writes about it.
Y-3 Atelier will create clothing at the intersection of sport and cutting-edge fashion, a hallmark of the collaboration between Yamamoto and adidas. Each collection explores a particular stage in Yamamoto’s design journey and features graphics inspired by his previous shows.
The first Y-3 Atelier collection pays homage to the adidas codes. Therefore, the asymmetrical maxi dresses are decorated with voluminous necklines and a closure on the chest, and the signature three stripes repeat the natural curves of the body. Suits are teamed with sheer button-down shirts and knitted polo shirts with co-branded details.
adidas previously announced a collaboration with German online music radio station HÖR Berlin. Its participants starred in the brand’s advertising campaign. HÖR Berlin held a special broadcast from the adidas flagship store in Berlin.
