British man Jay Slater missing in Tenerife.
The disappearance of British tourist Jay Slater on a tourist island has become one of the main topics in investigative forums. The search for the 19-year-old has been going on for three weeks. Of course, he could simply have fallen into the abyss, but so far the matter seems very mysterious.
An apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire went on holiday to the Spanish island of Tenerife. On Sunday 16 June, Slater danced at a rave in the resort town of Playa de las Americas, leaving in a car with two British acquaintances.
The company moved to a rented house, hidden among the rocky mountains of the Rural del Teno natural park, in the northwest of the island. Nearby is the village of Maska, considered the most beautiful on the island, with many picturesque trails.
Jay decided to arrive early by bus to his home on the southern tip of Tenerife, where he rented an apartment. But he arrived late and left on foot. Here lies the first oddity: such a walk on foot would take a young man 11 hours! And why did he choose a hiking trail instead of a paved road?
POISONOUS CACTUS
At 8:30 a.m., Slater called his friend Lucy, who was partying with him at the rave. She complained that she couldn’t figure out where she was. The guy said: she got lost and was really thirsty, and she also hurt herself on a cactus, what if it’s poisonous? Plus, her phone’s charge is running low.
Then the call came to Jay’s friend Brad. Slater could be heard swearing as he slipped on the gravel. A friend urged him to call a taxi.
After this, the young man disappeared without a trace. The last time his phone could be accessed was in the area of the Teno National Park.
“I WILL NEVER SEE YOUR SON AGAIN”
The Briton’s friends contacted the police. The next day, the young man’s mother, Debbie, his father and his brother flew to Tenerife…
And here is the second riddle. At the airport, Debbie received a message via social media: “You will never see your boyfriend again, he owes me a lot of money.” It was not possible to establish who wrote this.

While police were searching and examining Slater’s apartment, Lucy first went to the house where Jay spent the night before his disappearance. Nothing suspicious: the British man with whom the boy went out after the party said that in the morning he went to the store to buy cigarettes and came back to say: he was leaving. His acquaintances offered to give him a ride, but Slater refused.
“NOBODY DOES ANYTHING”
Police found no trace of the Briton when they examined the area where Slater’s phone was last found. Although dog handlers were involved, drones and helicopters were used.
After two weeks, the search operation was stopped.
The mystery of Jay Slater’s disappearance has become the number one topic in Britain. British police veteran Graham Wetton recommended his Spanish colleagues investigate the theory that third parties could be behind the man’s disappearance. However, local police rejected the hypothesis.
Meanwhile, one of Jay’s friends, whom he met in Tenerife, said that at a rave they were at on June 16, one of the guests was robbed of an expensive Rolex watch. After this, a fight broke out. According to an acquaintance, Slater’s disappearance could be related to this robbery.
English climber and TikTok star Paul Arnott, who flew to Tenerife specifically to join the search and rescue team, called the search for Slater a “great PR stunt”.
“There are people everywhere, literally everywhere, but nobody is actually doing anything,” the blogger said on social media.
Arnott then announced that he would be conducting his own investigation. He managed to obtain a pair of sunglasses that a local resident found in the area where Slater disappeared. It is not yet known whether they belong to the missing person.
