Younts will offer their bases the option to leave the government.

Date: August 20, 2022 Time: 05:15:07

Junts per Catalunya is questioning its presence in the government just one year after its constitution. The party has opened the door to ask the militants about the possibility of continuing or withdrawing from the executive branch under the chairmanship of Father Aragones, depending on the results of the audit it is conducting against the coalition pact with the ERC.

This is stated in the JxCat proposal for a political newspaper put forward by NacióDigital and accessed by elDiario.es, sent to the militants this Tuesday and to be voted on during the weekend of 16 and 17 July in the second part of the congress that the party will hold in Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) after the official distribution of positions in the executive branch between the sectors of Laura Borras and Jordi Turulla. However, within the next month, the document may be amended, for which the militants will vote. Therefore, in order for Younts to decide to leave the government, this paragraph of the document must first be approved by the militants, and then, during a special consultation, the bases must decide to leave the executive branch.

Although still a rudimentary idea, the text of the article provides a critical assessment of the legislature and for the first time opens the door to Younz’s departure from government, an extreme that only former leaders far from organic life like Quim Torra publicly defended. “A balance sheet is being prepared that casts a black-and-white on the degree of compliance with the government agreement, analyzes why more progress has not been made, and assesses what measures need to be taken, without excluding any. In this sense, Younts will offer its founders the opportunity to stay or not stay in government or take other initiatives appropriate to the situation,” the document says, which does not elaborate on the aforementioned initiatives.

The text, which will outline the party’s ideological course, also considers the dialogue table with the state depreciated and suggests a “turning point” from the 1-O five-year period, which is 2022. Youth ministers “will present a plan to move towards independence from the government”, and each department will promote “concrete measures that contribute to the economic and political separation of Catalonia from the state.”

“The failure of the dialogue route is pushing the country towards a second round in October 2017 as this is the only way for the Catalan people to fully enjoy their rights, freedoms and resources,” he adds. On the other hand, the political newspaper points out that Junts will only reach government agreements with pro-independence groups that will allow him to “help create conditions that make democratic spillover possible.”

Government spokeswoman Patricia Plaha avoided internal controversy when asked at the weekly press conference on Tuesdays after the executive’s meeting. “Like the government, there are few assessments of the political positions of Junts or Esquerra. The balance of the year of government is very positive,” he sentenced.

The development of the political report of the organization is the main task of the second part of the Yount congress, the first part of which took place last weekend – the distribution of positions. This Saturday, Laura Borras accepted the presidency of the Junts, while Jordi Turulle took over the reins of the general secretary and all executive power was renewed in a conclave that should be unified. However, controversy arose when the names framed in the Borras sector received fewer votes than those in the Turull sector, with the President himself having fewer votes than both Turulla and MP Anna Erra, both from the same family.
