Yuri Muravitsky resigned as chief director of the Taganka Theater

Date: April 25, 2024 Time: 07:18:13

Yuri Muravitsky left the post of chief director of the Taganka Theater, which he held since December 2021. He announced this on his Telegram channel.

According to Muravitsky, this decision was voluntary, “not momentary, deliberate, independent”, to which “no one forced him.” He thanked the theater “for all the good things that have happened there over the past year and two months.”

“The Taganka Theater will remain near and dear. And in spirit, and because they are three of my performances. It is like ordinary children. I hope there will be more, but already in an open relationship. <…> I don’t plan on leaving anywhere in the near future. There will be no further comment,” the director shared.

The Taganka Theater repertoire still includes The Cherry Orchard. Comedy”, “The Tartuffe. Comedy” and “Black cat, white cat”.

Earlier, the rector of the Russian Institute of Theater Arts, Grigory Zaslavsky, said that GITIS would start publishing a new theater magazine. The first issue will be published at the end of March. A total of three issues are planned to be published in 2023. The project will be supported by Russia’s Deputy Minister of Culture Alla Manilova.
