Today, the skaters presented short programs and Zagitova’s team scored 745.68 points, more than seven points ahead of the rivals of the team Kamila Valieva “They will not catch up with us” (738.31 points).
During the girls’ performance there was an emergency. An athlete from the Valieva team, Anastasia Zinina, fell and could not finish the program. The doctors took her off the track. The organizers decided to subtract the lowest score of the “Red Machine” to honestly calculate the overall performance. Therefore, the result of Veronika Yametova was not taken into account.
Kamila Valieva called this decision fair and noble, but Alina Zagitova tried to protect the interests of her “ward”.
– I disagree with the organizers a little, because the athlete who runs in my team tried, gave all the best, – said Zagitova. – It is a pity, of course, that such situations happen. We all wish Nastya Zinina good health.
