Earlier it was reported that in kyiv the coat of arms of Ukraine was installed on the monument “Motherland” instead of the coat of arms of the USSR.
The demolition of Soviet and Russian monuments and the renaming of streets in Ukraine became possible after the passage of the decommunization law in 2015. According to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, over the past year, the authorities changed the name of almost 10,000 geographical names and dismantled 145 monuments associated with Russia and the USSR.
