The anniversary summit, which should be a top-level event, does not seem very strong in the media compared to what is expected in November (US presidential elections, editor’s note), Ukrainian leader X complained on social networks.
“People seem to be barely noticing the historic expansion of NATO into two new countries; it has been overshadowed by another story,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying. Zelensky added that everyone is now looking forward to November.
Let us recall that the summit of the North Atlantic Alliance will be held in Washington from July 9 to 11.
Earlier, media reported disputes within NATO over which wording to choose to indicate Ukraine’s path to the alliance, which will be presented in the post-summit communiqué. Delegations are debating between options: a “bridge,” an “irreversible” path, or some other combination of the two.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO’s most important task is to increase support for Ukraine. At the same time, he stressed that no one in the alliance promised to accept Ukraine exactly in 10 years.
