Once Warner Bros. Discovery was made aware of the ‘Batgirl’ tape, with its angry backlash from trans activists, they decided to end their work on the project. Thus, it seems that they’ll be continuing with a different DC project in the near future.
As The Hollywood Reporter reported, the directors are not closing their doors to work with Warner Bros., but all under the condition that the movie comes out because it seems that they don’t want to experience what Batgirl “went through.”
“Yes, we would still work with them – as long as the movie comes out,” Fallah said. “If Warner says ‘do you want to do the next Batman or Superman?’ Of course, we’ll say yes.”
In the recent controversy surrounding the cancellation of a tape featuring one member of the Batfamily, both directors faced intense backlash. What’s more, they recently met with James Gunn.
Angelique Maingard said that “there really was a lot of support from the people in the industry.” That’s because she felt like everyone else had her back, which is a great feeling – we feel included and not alone for sure.
It’s always exciting when changes are made at a company. No matter what industry, there is an influx of new officials and creatives every day! It’s so important to remember that DC Studios is still on track with creating the greatest story ever told.
Let’s hope that this James Gunn meeting could happen, in which they could talk about a new project such as Batgirl, so there would be a slight hope that whatever happens with the project, it will always be canceled or something.
