It’s been almost a year since the release of the live action classic Cowboy Bebop, however, after its premiere on the Netflix platform, its cancellation was confirmed as it received very bad reviews, but even the anime director He gave it a try and didn’t seem to like it.
During an interview at AnimeHunch, Shinichiro Watanabe, the director of the anime that brought this story to us in 1998, commented that he gave the series a chance and it clearly felt like a failure to him, just like everyone else who was part of the original.
Meanwhile, he also shared some of his impressions of this kind of live action and said what needed to be said about this Hollywood production.
Watanabe explains that he was sent a video of the series from Netflix so he can watch it and make some corrections, a sort of oversight, but he seems to hate even the first casino scene.
What was the reason? Simply, the director commented that after seeing this moment in the series, it was hard for him to move on because he didn’t really identify him as Cowboy Bebop from the first moment.
