Dragon Ball is one of the most beloved and popular franchises even today, but Akira Toriyama’s story is about to turn 40 years old since its release, so several manga artists have teamed up to redesign the manga’s cover, and now it’s Black’s author’s turn. Clover, Yuki Tabata.
This is a cover design event that is part of Shueisha’s Dragon Ball Super Gallery project, which involves famous manga artists to create their own version of one of the story’s 42 covers, each of which will be released every month. November 2024.
Tabata sensei certainly did a great job creating his own version of the 40 cover of the original manga because his style is definitely noticeable and what better way to go than choosing one of the many favorite characters, Gotenks.
Undoubtedly, the result of this design is admirable as he respected the essence of the Dragon Ball character and then molded him into his own style, which shows that he made an effort to capture the original idea.
This cover is ranked 23rd out of 42 that have been redesigned by some mangakas, so there is still a long way to go to see the style of other authors in relation to Akira Toriyama’s manga covers and this version of Gotenks by Yuki Tabata of We. I really like black clover.
