The official website of the Dragon Ball franchise published an interview with two experts: Ryosuke Yamamura from the Mercari R&D team and electrical engineering professor Yoshihiro Kawahara from the University of Tokyo.
Yamamura talked about how these capsules could work in our world, and noted that some aspects would be easy to build, but others would be like, “Making things smaller is entirely possible, but making heavy things lighter? It would be a little difficult. “There are many ways to decompose an object into particles, but the closest (to anime) would be to change the shape of the object at the atomic level.”

On the other hand, Kawahara-sensei pointed out that the only way to change the shape of atoms is to use nuclear fusion and fission, and that would be a feat, but it is unclear how an arbitrary substance could be created using modern technology.
Both clarified that it would be easier to crush the object using some sort of mixer and then reconstruct it, while research is being done through self-assembly or self-folding, all with the help of 3D printers.
They can print basic shapes of lines and particles, and when the objects are heated, they melt, warp, or stick together into a new shape. This is called 4D printing.
Perhaps with this technology they can create something similar to the Hoipoi capsules that appear in Dragon Ball, and in the future, perhaps not very near, we will be able to transport and store our car in one of them, as it happens in anime. .
