Date: July 13, 2024 Time: 20:46:44

Dragon Ball has become a masterpiece over the years that has captivated children and adults alike, but Jujutsu Kaisen is not far behind as it has now become the most popular anime all over the world, all thanks to the wonderful story by Gege Akutami, which was animated by MAPPA, but can you imagine what Z Fighters would look like if they were illustrated by this famous animation studio?

There’s no need to imagine more: the animation studio has made fans’ dreams come true by recreating the Dragon Ball characters in their signature art style.

Have you ever imagined what the Z Fighters would look like if they were illustrated by MAPPA?

The first images that appeared online gave rise to many speculations about its origin; some thought it was a preview for the second season of Dragon Ball Super. However, the mysterious Goku has been confirmed to belong to the new baseball anime MAPPA, specifically the third episode of the series.

The cameo caused a stir among fans of both series, who applauded the creativity and tribute MAPPA paid to Dragon Ball. The merging of these two universes resulted in a unique and vibrant image that evoked nostalgia among many and raised high hopes for the new MAPPA baseball anime.

This new anime called Oblivion Battery is available on the Crunchyroll platform and a new chapter is released weekly. A total of 12 episodes are planned for the series, of which only 3 have been released so far.

Oblivion Battery’s plot follows Haruka Kiyomin, a powerful striker, and Kei Kaname, a catcher known as the “Skillful General”, who form an unstoppable duo in high school. Years after graduation, the two meet again at Kotesashi School, an institution far removed from the world of baseball. There, along with other players who gave up the sport after losing to them, they find themselves embroiled in a new battle to achieve glory.

Despite initial expectations, this storyline was not received as expected. The series doesn’t generate much interest among anime fans and generally seems to be a show that goes under the radar in the spring lineup.

It’s unlikely that MAPPA will continue working on Dragon Ball in the near future, as the franchise is still owned by Toei Animation. However, it is interesting to see such an obvious reference, such as Goku’s inclusion in MAPPA, in another anime.
