While Serena, the protagonist of Sailor Moon, is the supreme exponent of shoujo and magical girls, and we can’t separate her image from that of a charming pastel-colored heroine, Guts, the protagonist of Berserk, presents himself as the most cursed anti-hero among Damn Both points of view are beautiful, but what if these imaginary ones are mixed? Well, Australian artist Beach Ghost has done more than epic fan art that tries to answer that question. Result? We think Naoko Takeuchi and Kentaro Miura would be more than proud.
Seeing the work Beach Ghost has done, we can’t help but tip our hats. On the one hand, the scene is dominated by cold and pastel colors, not very saturated: an influence that we can note as Naoko Takeuchi’s. On the other hand, in a rather imaginative section, we find ourselves in front of a female figure who imposes herself. We recognize Serena’s profile even if her hair isn’t blonde, but we also notice Guts’ berserk armor, or at least some of it.
Add to that Guts’ prosthetic arm and, of course, the hilt of the sword he wields. That’s if the artist even bothered to draw long and well-groomed nails for this dark version of the main character Sailor Moon!
In conclusion, this is a magnificent work that, with ambition, but with great dedication, pays homage to two of the best manga artists who have come through the industry.
And you, what do you think of this incredible tribute to the work of Kentaro Miura?
