Studio Ghibli has unveiled a new collection inspired by the fantastic vehicles and machines from their films, machines that will now take the form of cute toys that you’ll be dying to add to your shelf.
Studio Ghibli has teamed up with Dream Tomica Ghibli ga Ippai to create amazing toys. The Catbus from My Neighbor Totoro and the Unbara Electric Railway from Spirited Away were previously featured, but the second part of the collaboration will take us across the seas and skies. For this reason, the small Sosuke boat used by Ponyo was introduced, as well as the majestic tiger moth from “Castle in the Sky”.
So far, the Dream Tomica Ghibli ga Ippai collection also includes other collaborations with films such as Porco Rosso. This is what the collection looks like at the moment:
Studio Ghibli toys will be available at Toy Stores, Donguri Republic Animation Studio Stores, and Tomica Stores throughout Japan. Shipments will be made at the end of March, and those interested in acquiring any of these curious collectibles have until January 31st to put theirs on hold. Each figurine is priced at 1,320 yen, approximately US$10.20.
On the other hand, Studio Ghibli has a great year ahead as the studio says it will now release How Do You Live?, what is considered the last film directed by Hayao Miyazaki at the legendary animation studio.
