It was recently announced that the much-anticipated third Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot has been canceled. This would be in line with one of The Hollywood Reporter’s recent reports, which confirmed the news from Deadline. Apparently, because Patty Jenkins had to strike a deal with Warner Bros., the script she and Geoff Johns wrote had been rejected by Jim Gunn and Peter Safran.
The recent box office flop of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam in the world of DC Entertainment has some critics and fans wondering if he’ll ever be seen again. Fans are speculating that Henry Cavill will also exit due to the fact that his Superman film failed worse than usual after the success of Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, representing a loss of up to 200 million dollars at the box office.
Of course, neither James Gunn nor Peter Safran has commented on the matter. Presumably, the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 and the possible departure of Superman and Black Adam will be unfortunate, as well as the further development of DC Comics properties. However, it seems that both Gunn and Safran are building an interesting roster for a potentially fresh start, making rumors such as these somewhat worrying. My only wish is that we get to see what they’ve been planning in their development process. Of course, I’m confident that it’ll all be cool soon enough!
Wonder Woman was one of the breakout superheroes of 2016. She didn’t just look like a good movie – she delivered. Did that mean Wonder Woman never actually made it to Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice?
