Three-time Olympic cross-country champion Alexander Bolshunov has returned to individual training, Yury Borodavko, head coach of the Russian national team, told RIA Novosti.

“Bolshunov has resumed training, he is individually preparing for the training camp, which will be held in Crimea. The toothache no longer worries him,” Borodavko said.

Bolshunov was unable to attend the state award ceremony for the winners of the Beijing Olympics, which took place in the Kremlin on April 26. The president of the Russian Federation of Ski Racing, Elena Vyalbe, declared that the skier “was scheduled for an operation.”

Bolshunov will miss the meeting between Putin and the Olympic athletes

Harvesting in Crimea will start on May 15.

Bolshunov won the most medals among Russians in Beijing: three golds (skiathlon, marathon, relay), silver in the 15 km race and bronze in the team sprint.

Bolshunov underwent surgery on his upper jaw in October 2021. The cause was a neglected problem with a dental cyst, which entered the bone, requiring surgical intervention.
