Although the Wildcats were considered favorites and had home-field advantage in two of the three games, the Jackjumpers managed to advance to the finals. In the final of the playoffs, Tasmania had to face the winner of the regular season, Melbourne, led by Matthew Dellavedova, Australian basketball player, NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
