Chile demanded a ticket to the World Cup for false data from the Ecuadorian player

The Chilean Football Federation has filed a complaint with the FIFA Disciplinary Committee demanding that the Ecuadorian team claim eight defeats in the Qatar World Cup qualifiers for the identification of false data of one of its players. It is reported by The New York Times.

If FIFA takes the corresponding sanctions, the Chileans, who finished seventh in the South American qualifying tournament, can move up to fourth and go to Qatar.

According to the Chilean federation, the investigation found that Ecuadorian defender Byron Castillo was actually born in Colombia three years earlier than indicated in the documents.

Questions about Castillo’s origin in Ecuador were raised previously, he was called up to the national team only in the last year, after the local court confirmed his citizenship and inconsistencies in the documents were corrected.

The “Hamburg” player was accused of falsifying personal data

FIFA acknowledged receipt of the complaint, but declined to comment on the situation.

In January 2018, the Ecuadorian Football Federation sanctioned more than 70 youth players for falsifying documents.

Castillo plays for Barcelona de Guayaquil.

The World Championship will take place from November 21 to December 18. Ecuador was drawn in Group A with Qatar, Senegal and the Netherlands.
