Chinese table tennis remains the best in the world.

On Friday, August 9, the final of the men’s table tennis team competition was held in Paris. The decisive match was between China and Sweden. As expected, China won 3:0.

Ma Long was assigned to start the final together with Wang Chuqin. They met resistance from Swedes Anton Kjellberg and Christian Karlsson, but won the match 3:2. The match has begun.

Well, then everything was under the control of the Chinese. This victory cannot be called easy. However, it was immediately clear who was the favourite in the match. The Chinese have not given up the team tennis championship for the fifth consecutive Olympiad.

Six-time Olympian

Another thing is important: the great Ma Long became a six-time Olympic champion.

On August 9, she won her first gold in Paris. Previously, she also managed to win the Games in London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2016) and Tokyo (2020).

If we count both Olympic Games and World Championships, then this Chinese has as many as 19 world championship awards, 14 of which are gold!

Before his victory in Paris, Ma Long was already the most successful table tennis player in his country and in the world, and now he has completely flown into space. Also because, of all Chinese in all sports, he has won the most gold medals at the Olympic Games. Behind him are the high jumper Wu Minxia (5 – 1 – 1) and the gymnast Zou Kai (5 – 0 – 1).

Ma Long is 35 years old. And for 17 of those years he has not dropped below 12th place in the world rankings. Crazy stability. But the day is not far off when the great Ma will end his career. Did he have the last word in Paris? The question is rhetorical.
