Crazy Dance, Boykova/Kozlovsky from Tutberidze and Kostornaya’s debut. Guide to paired species.

Date: October 2, 2023 Time: 07:30:10

This weekend we will see new programs from Russia’s best skaters at test skates in Moscow.

“Championship” presents a guide to pair tests on the test skates of the Russian national team: in front of you are all the technical bodies and the participants representing them.

During the preparation of the material it became known that another dance duo had disbanded: Elizaveta Pasechnik and Maxim Nekrasov no longer skate together. We really hope that all the other announced couples arrive safely at Megasport.

Alexander Zhulin Group

The largest representation in pairs events is at the headquarters of Alexander Zhulin. He brings three couples at a time to rentals and has recently been working with two duos. The return of Stepanova/Bukin to the ice, the resurgence of Khudaiberdieva/Bazin after a season with a series of mistakes, the creative discoveries of Shanaeva/Drozd (with an allusion to Vrubel’s painting “The Sitting Demon”)… And all this in a single device.

Angelica Krylova’s group

Two weeks before the national team skating trials, the Krylova headquarters lost the premiere of the last season: the couple Vasilisa Kaganovskaya/Valery Angelopol broke up. The partner remained in the group and is still looking for a partner, but Anzhelika Alekseevna is going to skate with Annabelle Morozov and Igor Eremenko. The skaters have been skating together since this winter, they worked for a long time in the United States with Nikolai Morozov, but the season in Russia will be spent under the direction of Krylova.

Group of Irina Zhuk and Alexander Svinin.

This team enters the new season with debutants: silver medalists of the Russian Junior Championships and winners of the Grand Prix final. Sofia Leontyeva and Daniil Gorelkin are preparing to debut at the adult level. This is not the first nor the second year that Sonya and Danya have performed together; They are a well-formed and ambitious couple.

Denis Samokhin Group

Denis Samokhin takes a couple who have been skating together for less than a year skating. A year ago, Irina Khavronina and David Narizhny skated on Megasport with different partners, but at first it didn’t work out for David with Annabelle Morozov, and then Ira’s duet with Dario Chirisano broke up. In the spring the skaters skated a little in the Ilya Averbukh show, but this will be the first time they will perform competitive programs.

Elena Sokolova group

Ekaterina Mironova/Evgeniy Ustenko from St. Petersburg is one of the most experienced couples in the world of skating, having been performing together for seven years. Year after year, the guys worked hard and tried to be remembered for their unusual performances: they had “The Hunger Games” and “Dune” in their arsenal, and this season the skaters are preparing to present a program with music from the Oscars . Winning film “The Shape of Water” by Guillermo del Toro.

Group of Elena Maslennikova and Ilya Averbukh

Sofia Shevchenko started as a coach in this group after she first retired, but then the skater realized that she still wanted to compete: she found a partner and returned to action. Maslennikova and Averbukh bring to the skates a new couple, Sofia Shevchenko/Andrey Yezhlov, who had already performed in the show “Love Letters.”

Tamara Moskvina’s group

The flagship of Russian pair skating for many seasons is the school of Tamara Nikolaevna Moskvina. Two duos will perform on the test skates: world and European champions Anastasia Mishina/Alexander Gallyamov, as well as Russian Grand Prix winners Yasmina Kadyrova/Valery Kolesov, who are starting their second season together. Skaters presented short programs at master classes in the Leningrad region, but no one has seen free programs yet.

Eteri Tutberidze Group

Pair skating in Eteri Tutberidze’s group continues to develop. In May 2023, two-time Russian and European champions Alexandra Boykova/Dmitry Kozlovsky joined the team. The coaching staff included not only Eteri Georgievna with Daniil Gleikhengauz and Sergei Dudakov, but also specialists in pair skating: Pavel Slyusarenko, Maxim Trankov, Alexey Tikhonov. In the off-season, the couple trained at training camps in Novogorsk, in Moscow in Khrustalny, and also visited the Slyusarenko skating rink in Perm several times. Olympic runners-up Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov are not on the list for the skating events.

Pavel Slyusarenko’s group

Several more duos are studying at the Perm “Start” school under the direction of Slyusarenko. At the box office, viewers should expect Yulia Artemyeva/Alexey Bryukhanov and Elizaveta Osokina/Artyom Gritsaenko. Last season the skaters participated in adult and youth competitions, gained experience and finished in the top three at the Russian Championships. Unfortunately, due to health problems, another Perm couple, Ekaterina Chikmareva / Matvey Yanchenkov, will not be able to perform on the skates.

Fedor Klimov Group

Karina Akopova and Nikita Rakhmanin had an uneven performance last season: due to an injury to their partner, the skaters could not get prizes on the stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi, and also withdrew from the free program on the stage in Moscow. After that, Karina had a long recovery, until the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Group of Sergei Roslyakov and Betina Popova

The team of Roslyakov and Popova will represent two completely new couples that have been skating together not long ago. In the off-season, Denis Khodykin was paired with Taisiya Sobinina, and Alena Kostornaya is entering her first season as her partner with her husband Georgy Kunitsa. The couple’s short programs were screened at the Moscow Championships out of competition, but the public will see the free programs for the first time.

Sergei Dobroskokov’s group

The young and daring Natalya Khabibullina and Ilya Knyazhuk declared themselves at the Grand Prix last season, beating the experienced Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov, and then entered the top 6 at the Russian Championships and qualified for the Russian national team. Natasha and Ilya are good technicians with complex content, and in the off-season the couple worked on productions with Ilya Averbukh.

Nina Moser Group

Daria Boyarintseva and Roman Pleshkov begin their second full season together. At their first joint Russian championship, Dasha and Roman placed seventh, won two bronze medals at the Russian Grand Prix, gained experience and are now ready to surprise the audience with new productions.
