So far, St. Petersburg’s “Zenit” team has dominated the Russian Premier League. Former goalkeeper of the Russian national football team Vladimir Gabulov said that it alienates fan interest.
“They say this is bad for RPL? Absolutely so. Kills. I associate this advantage primarily with Semak. He selected the players, and built the game. But such dominance is not a problem for Zenit, but a concern for our entire football system,” Match TV quotes Gabulov from comments he made on his interview show.
The team of Sergei Semak has grown incredibly confident. They lead the standings with 13 wins, three draws and only one loss in 17 Premier League matches so far – 42 points.
The reigning champions, with 36 points, are Spartak Moscow. The third-place team is Rostov (35). After the winter break, the Russian Premier League will resume in March.
