OFF AND FLY

The F-4 stages are, in fact, one of the premier winter youth championships in open-wheel car racing. Our progress, we repeat, is evident. However, things did not start so happily. Abkhazava started the first race frankly unsuccessfully – Alexander’s car stalled at the start line, so already on the first lap the driver fell back to the end of the pack and was forced to regain lost positions.

Meanwhile, at the head of the field, championship leader Hugo Ugochukwu held off James Wharton to take his fourth win of the season. Tuukka Taponen finished third, while Abkhazava finished 21st ahead of more than a dozen competitors.

The best of the Russians was Georgy Zhuravsky, who placed 28th. Victoria Blokhina, after recovering four positions, finished on the 30th line, and Alexander Bolduev, due to a forced pit stop during the safety car exit. , he was only able to get line 34 in the final protocol.

The second race ended with victory for Taponen: the Finn started third, but in a tense fight ahead of Wharton and Ugochukva. Abkhazava again showed very high pace, but towards the end of the race, an imprecise attack by one of the rivals led to a three-driver collision, taking Alexander off the track.

Alexander Bolduev, another rookie for the 2023 season, also had a brilliant run and struggled in the top 10, but fell to 17th before the finish line. Victoria Blokhina finished 28, and Georgy Zhuravsky – 34.

THERE ARE POINTS!

In race three, James Wharton came out on top and the race ended with a collision between Taponen and Ugochukwu with two laps to go. Second and third places were finally taken by Valerio Rinicella and Zachary David.

Abkhazava finished in ninth position in this race, and for Alexander these are the first points in the 2023 season, for which Soviet Sport sincerely congratulates him. Bolduev finished 22nd, Blokhin took 27th position, having achieved the best result of the stage and ahead of Zhuravsky, who qualified 28th.

RESULTS AND PROTOCOLS

Hugo Ugochukwu still leads the general classification after the results of the three stages, but his lead over James Wharton has now been reduced to 11 points. Valerio Rinicella is third, followed by Tuukka Taponen and Arvid Lindblad.

Russian Kirill Smal, who scored 22 points in the first stage of the season, occupies 12th place in the standings, and Alexander Abkhazava, due to two points scored, moved to 22nd place. Bolduev, Blokhin and Zhuravsky have yet to score any. credit.
