Find a replacement for Shunin and Shimansky. Dynamo tasks for the summer

GOALIE

The Blue and Whites have the more experienced Anton Shunin (team captain) and the good-natured Igor Leshchuk, who even at 26 is still waiting for his chance, but in reality you can’t be 100% sure. of any of them.

Shunin last season was the worst (!) goalkeeper in the league. The statement is harsh, but the numbers confirm it: Antón rejected only 58% of the shots and conceded 6.12 more goals than expected. Both indicators are the lowest of the RPL. Isn’t this part of the glitch in the spring segment?

It is significant that Sandro Schwartz put Leshchuk in two decisive games of the season against Sochi (matchday 30) and Spartak (Cup final). However, he, to put it mildly, was also not impressed: he conceded seven (!) Goals in these games, leaving the team without a silver medal and a trophy. And if he simply did not help against the southerners, then in the game with the rojiblancos, the first ball in the nearest corner was not entirely uncatchable.

Matvey Safonov became the best goalkeeper in the league last season, but for obvious reasons Krasnodar will not let him go, so I would suggest turning to Ivan Lomaev (Wings of the Soviets) and Ilya Lantratov (Khimki). Both have room to improve, but both are relatively young, up-and-coming, and hungry for success, and at the same time quite experienced and stable. And most importantly: available for the right money. In addition, in a year or two they will end up in big clubs, from where it will be much more difficult to pick them up. This is an important point, because Shunin is not eternal, and in a couple of years the question will finally arise: who, if not him? It’s worth figuring out now, and Leshchuk needs to practice somewhere on loan.

DEFENSE CENTER

Here everything is more obvious. The team’s autumn success was made possible, among other things, by a strong bond between central defenders Fabian Balbuena and Ivan Ordets, but the latter left the team in the spring and Roman Evgeniev was unable to keep up with his teammate.

In fact, he is a very promising and intelligent footballer with a wide range of advantages: with a good first pass, a strong shot, a quality game in the air. However, the blue and white defense began to resemble a sieve. Slavisa Jokanovic also has 20-year-old Saba Sazonov and Alexander Kutitsky at his disposal, but betting on them is too risky.

In the RPL, Rodrigao from Sochi especially stood out, but he already has one foot at Zenit. Perhaps it makes sense for him to take a closer look at the experienced Silvie Begich, but he suspended Rubin’s contract in the spring, so there’s no certainty he’s ready to return to Russia. Vanya Drkusic (Sochi) and Kirill Gotsuk (Pari NN) played well, but the former lacks experience and the latter lacks status, so it’s probably worth looking for reinforcements on the foreign market. And it certainly will not be superfluous.

MIDDLE FIELD CENTER

In the winter, I repeatedly wrote that, first of all, the Dynamo needed a couple of central midfielders, since there are only four in the team (with three on the field), and one of them is Arsen Zakharyan, who plays on the left flank. . His return to the middle of the field was a necessity and it impoverished the attack, that is, it was highly undesirable.

The Blue and Whites then concentrated on finding an attacker, and poor Sebastian Szymanski carried the team on his shoulders all spring, while his teammates Nikola Moro and Daniil Fomin, who missed a penalty in the decisive moment of the Cup final, did they did it. Don’t take out the busy schedule and level of responsibility. And, oh horror, the Polo goes away in summer! Now the Dynamo, in a good way, need up to three players in this zone: at point guard, in the rotation, and in the reserve, as a safety net (well, in the latter case, you can get by with a protégé).

There are too many options here due to lack of definition of specific functionality. One might venture to suggest that 22-year-old Daniil Utkin would definitely fit into the squad and might well replace Szymanski, but Dynamo took a long time to decide on a manager, and Rostov played ahead of the curve. Last season I liked 23-year-old Kings Kangwa from Arsenal, who managed both in front and behind, Danil Glebov from Rostov also proved his worth. Well, or look for options abroad. Fortunately, the limit is now almost rubbery.

SMOLOV

Even in winter the Smolov Pass looked like a dubious undertaking. For my subjective taste. Fedor may be a batsman, but he is a very specific striker, who is greatly influenced by what happens off the field and the team’s style of play: he should always be in front of the goal line, and only with low passes.

In addition, Smolov is old and unstable: in the 2020/21 season he scored 7 goals in 21 RPL games, and in the next – 12 in 26 games. He scored all five of his goals in the spring, but the first three came in four opening days. So betting on her is risky. And Smolov lacks physics. It is significant that Schwartz kept him on the field until at least the 71st minute in only four of 11 games.

Now it will be difficult to resolve this situation, since it is almost impossible to sell Smolov somewhere, and to terminate the contract is expensive and inefficient. And you can’t put him in a bank on that salary. A lease to Europe remains with the search for a new player on the edge (Artem Dzyuba would look good here) and a trade, but it is unlikely that he will agree to go to Samara conditionally. How to get out, it’s up to Zeljko Buvacu.

***

It is surprising that the Dynamo still have not solved their problems, since there are less than three weeks until the start of the new season. This is understandable, because Jokanovic recently took the helm, but if you join the fight so sparingly, it may turn out that the competitors have already taken all the interesting players.
