Ferencvaros should extend the contract with Stanislav Cherchesov after the club won the cup and the national championship under his management. This was announced to RBC Sport by former Spartak general manager and current head of Ufa Shamil Gazizov.

“Cherchesov is a great coach, he is the current coach of Ferencváros, he gave him the gold double, so I think he will stay there and they will extend his contract. This is our coach, a former national team coach, I will continue to support him in Europe. He has a job and he does his job efficiently and well,” Gazizov said.

Grigoryan called Cherchesov’s Ferencvaros a springboard for Russian footballers

Ferencváros won the Hungarian Cup on May 11. In the final match, the Russian coach’s team beat Paks with a score of 3:0. And on April 24, the club won the Hungarian championship ahead of schedule.

Cherchesov took charge of Ferencvaros in December 2021. Before that, he coached the Russian national team. At the 2018 World Cup at home, under his guidance, the team reached the 1/4 finals. Details of the term of the contract were not disclosed.

Before joining the national team, Cherchesov worked for Kufstein and Wacker-Tirol in Austria, Spartak Moscow, Zhemchuzhina Sochi, Terek (now Akhmat), Amkar and Dynamo Moscow. In addition, the specialist coached Legia, with which he made a “golden double” in the 2015/16 season: the Warsaw club became the champion and owner of the Polish Cup.
