Sometimes a good meme is enough to make even a simpleton popular. This is demonstrated by the game “Rus vs. Lizards”, which was nothing in itself, but thanks to jokes about the Slavic lumbago in the chest, it sold out enormously.
But memes about September 3 are even more popular and time-tested: Shufutinsky performed the song for the first time in 1993. Isn’t this a reason to build an entire series around a joke? “A reason,” TNT and Kinopoisk decided. But what did they do?

The calendar has not changed
The plot is based on the Groundhog Day principle. After a crazy bachelor party, three friends wake up in the middle of the forest and do not remember anything about their recent adventures. There is no time to analyze the party, because the main character is getting married soon. Shufutinsky, having expressed a couple of philosophical thoughts, takes them home, and then the bride price, the registry office and mischievous jokes of the guests begin.
It would seem that everything is going well, but then the bride receives a strange message and runs away, and the bandits begin to chase the trio. What is going on? The reflections are interrupted by a coup de grace from a local authority. Opening their eyes, the heroes wake up again in the same forest and see: the calendar has not changed, it is September 3 again.

As you can see, the writers didn’t come up with anything new: they took “Groundhog Day”, diluted it with a meme and even introduced Shufutinsky into the plot. Does such exploitation make the show bad? No. It doesn’t make it good either.
The adventures of the unfortunate friends are shrouded in mystery. Why did the bride run away? What do the bandits want? What have the boys gotten themselves into? These dilemmas are not exciting, but they are generally interesting to follow. In addition, the heroes have many other problems. One has affairs with three girls at the same time – naturally, the secret is revealed and the lovers stun the groom with slaps. Another lost his wedding ring and now faces the wrath of his wife. His way home is closed.
It seems that in order to break out of the circle, the heroes will have to grow morally, and this theme is not at all convincing. It is obvious that in the next episodes the guys will reveal the secrets of the bachelor party, fix everything, become saints and reach a happy ending. Well, the noose will probably turn out to be the machinations of the wise man Shufutinsky.

The duality of the series is visible everywhere. Here is the groom’s friend at the wedding running around his friends so that they don’t understand: the chosen one’s heart is not only occupied by them. You don’t feel any tension at this moment, only embarrassment. But jokes sometimes lighten the mood: the telephone conversation about the police raid and the priestesses of love from the introduction is very funny.
As a result, September 3rd feels neither a success nor a failure. If you have absolutely nothing to do, the series wouldn’t be the worst choice.
