Despite the absence of representatives of our country, there will be gymnasts with Russian roots at the tournament. And all of them are medal contenders.
29-year-old Ekaterina Vedeneeva represented the Russian national team for a long time, but in 2018 she changed her citizenship. Now the gymnast herself represents Slovenia. At the 2022 World Championships, Ella Vedeneeva took bronze in ribbon exercises, and this year at the European Championships she won bronze in mace exercises.
How Vedeneeva won a medal at the 2023 European Championships:
A unique achievement for the former Russian gymnast. She won a European medal at 28 years old.
Daria Varfolomeev is one of the favorites for the upcoming World Championship. The 16-year-old girl began to do gymnastics in her native Barnaul, at Russian national tournaments. In 2019, she changed her sports citizenship to German, and in 2022, having reached adult level, she became a real star.
At the 2022 World Cup, Daria won five medals: gold in clubs, silver in ball, team and individual, and bronze in hoop exercises. This year, Varfolomeeva came out of the European Championships with gold in ribbon exercises.

Daria Atamanov is perhaps the least Russian gymnast of all. The gymnast’s parents are from Russia, but moved to Israel when they were young. Ella Daria was born there, and there she began to do gymnastics. Atamanov did not compete in the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2023 due to injury, but she has now returned to show a great level again.
At her last international tournament, the 2022 European Championships, the 17-year-old Israeli won the individual total, placing second in the hoop, ribbon and mace exercises, and also took bronze in the team total.
Russian gymnasts had their own World Cup – II Games of the CIS countries:

2023 World Cup Favorites
In the absence of the Russians, a fierce battle for the World Cup medals is expected. We have already said that among the favorites in both the individual and general events are gymnasts of Russian roots: Varfolomeev and Atamanov. Vedeneeva also has chances, but rather in separate forms.
Among the main contenders for the medals is the Italian Sofia Rafaelli, the current world champion in five of the six disciplines! In 2022, the gymnast not only presented clubs, she won bronze in this way. At the 2023 European Championships, Sofia took gold in the club and ball exercises, as well as silver in the overall.
