Tokyo Olympic high jump champion Maria Lasitskene, who missed almost the entire summer season, competed at the Russian Championships in Chelyabinsk. That’s just the return of the leader of the Russian team turned out to be a bit of a blur.
Lasitskene is no longer the same?
The three-time world champion could not overcome the height of 1.89 m, it seems that for an athlete of the Lasickene level this is a mere trifle. After all, at the Olympic Games in Japan, he conquered a height of 2.04 m, a personal record – 2.06 m, but the result is a modest seventh place.
The best result was shown by the Belarusian athlete Karina Demidik – 1.97 m. She performed outside the medal table. Gold of the national championship was received by Kristina Koroleva with a score of 1.91 m.

Why did Maria perform so poorly? Everything is explainable.
This summer season, the athlete came out at the start only once – at the national team championship in Sochi. Lasickene then took second place, stopping at a height of 1.88m.
Later it became known that the Russian athlete underwent a medical examination and treatment due to problems with the Achilles tendon. Even then, no one undertook to talk about the timing of the recovery. The Olympic champion could have missed the rest of the season entirely.
