About two months ago, information appeared on the Internet that Khabib Nurmagomedov had problems with the tax service. In particular, it was stated that the accounts of the Eagle FC promotion, which is still formally operating, and Khabib’s charitable foundation were frozen.
The Mash telegram channel reported that the reason for the checks of these accounts was inaccurate information in the official documents of Khabib’s other organizations. They were subsequently closed, and Eagle FC and the foundation suffered the same fate. At the same time, the amount of Khabib’s total debt came to light for the first time – just over 300 million rubles. More specifically, 306,688,389 rubles.

It is no secret that after the end of his professional career, Nurmagomedov actively invested in various business areas. In addition to his own promotion, he invested in the large Papakha restaurant in Makhachkala, opened several fast food outlets in different cities, and invested in various projects in the United Arab Emirates. Then, experts assessed the situation and assumed that in the worst case, the former UFC champion would face several years in prison.
Since then, the issue of Nurmagomedov’s taxes has practically not been raised. But on July 1, it became known that Khabib’s debt was already 297 million, which is also a lot, and the Federal Tax Service seized Orel’s accounts. In addition, the ex-fighter’s relatives were also subject to surveillance. True, Umar and Abubakar Nurmagomedov, as it turned out, have a debt of no more than 300 rubles.
Most recently, the former champion returned to active MMA activity:
Khabib’s team will be saved by his return. The eagle tore and tore Makhachev’s cage
As for Khabib, he is apparently in trouble. The fighter’s uncle, in response to a question about his nephew’s financial affairs, doubted the reliability of the information about the debt: “I didn’t get into Khabib’s wallet or his financial affairs. Many people don’t know about his nephew’s affairs. Me too. I don’t know who is talking about the arrest of Khabib’s accounts, but I think this information is incorrect. Now they write anything.”
But the tax office, on the contrary, confirmed the information about the debt and that it will be collected in the appropriate manner: “The basis of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s debt was non-payment of taxes, penalties and fines. This was confirmed by a decision that came into legal force based on the results of an on-site tax audit, which ended in 2023. The decision on the on-site inspection was made on December 22, 2023. The additional amount accrued as part of the on-site tax audit was due to non-payment of taxes on income received from abroad during the tax period 2019-2021. The taxpayer had enough time to pay his obligations. On April 23, 2024, the decision came into force. In this regard, the amount is recovered in accordance with the procedure established by law in relation to non-payment on demand.”

The response from the Federal Tax Service indicates the period from 2019 to 2021. During this period, Khabib fought the last two fights of his career – against Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. Accordingly, according to the tax representative, after these fights Nurmagomedov did not pay taxes. According to data from various sources, Khabib earned more than $10 million from these two fights. It is quite possible that part of the fees for the fight with Conor McGregor, which took place at the end of 2018, also fell into this period.
In general, this story is unlikely to be related to malicious tax evasion. It could all have been due to poor accounting, and Habib took the people responsible for it at their word. One way or another, stars of other sports periodically face this problem. According to Russian legislation, such a large debt falls under Article 199 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Non-payment of taxes on an especially large scale.” The range of penalties ranges from a fine of 200-500 thousand to imprisonment.
By the way, Nurmagomedov’s biggest fan, Conor McGregor, has already responded to the situation: “He snapped and ran away. If you see him, offer to do push-ups for him for money. I heard he’s now an escort in Dubai.”
In the near future, Khabib should pay attention to the work of the accounting department and, as soon as possible, address the problem that has arisen, which, among other things, is a stain on his reputation. Most likely, Nurmagomedov will have enough money to solve this problem.
