They deducted 10 points from Turints. But the trial is not over yet.

Juventus is in big trouble. They did not start today, but now the club has been sanctioned again, and it will not be possible to lift the sanctions in the near future. Naturally, the penalty in the form of subtracting 10 points affected the team’s position in the table.

In January 2023, Juventus got into a new scandal and received harsh punishment. True, it was not as serious as in 2006. Then, after the results of Calciopoli, the Turin club was expelled from Serie A. In 2023, 15 points were deducted. Because of this, Juventus lost several positions in the table at once. Massimiliano Allegri’s team fell from third place to tenth – it seemed that the Champions League could be forgotten.

What did the starting club do? He was accused of violating licensing rules and financial fair play. The club overestimated the transfer fee for players, underestimated data on employee earnings, and hid the true size of player earnings. During the pandemic, Juve secretly paid 17 players around 60 million euros. Club bosses publicly claimed that the players accepted a partial pay cut, but transferred money to them without going through the law.

Juventus severely punished! The club may be left without European competition

The old Juventus management resigned at the end of 2022. But, of course, this did not save the managers from punishment. Suspended from football activities:

Fabio Paratici (former Juve sporting director) – for 2.5 years Maurizio Arrivabane (former general manager) – for two years Federico Cherubini (former sporting director) – for 1 year and four months

In April, Juve fans received good news – 15 points were returned to the team. At the time, the Turin club was in ninth place, nine points out of the Champions League zone. And after returning the points, he took off again in the top 3. However, it was too early to rejoice. The Italian Federal Court of Appeal was due to reinvestigate and issue a final verdict. But the complaint from the sanctioned managers was rejected.

On May 21, Corriere dello Sport reported that Juventus would again have points deducted. Such a decision should have been made at the court session, which was scheduled for the 22nd. The prosecution was going to demand a sanction for the club in the form of retentions of 9 to 12 points. Now the result is known: Juve lost 10 points and fell to seventh place in the Italian championship.

At the same time, the procedures will not be completed and will last at least until August. Before the new verdict, Juve was in second place, and now they are out of the top 4 again. An additional problem is that there is no point in challenging the verdict again: the FIGC federal appeals court rules on this situation for third time.

Earlier, the Italian Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, made an interesting comment. In his opinion, it is not necessary to take points away from Juventus, but to deprive the club of the stadium.

“From a purely economic point of view, if Juventus gave a false report, why should I deduct points? asks the minister. – If he reasoned the same way as the prosecutor or the police, he would confiscate their stadium, since they are the only team that built their own stadium. It would cause economic damage. The whole sports justice system needs to be rethought a bit, otherwise it will turn out to be a disaster.”

By the way, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has no plans to leave the club yet, despite the sanctions. He announced it just one day before the new punishment. “I have already spoken with the owners of the club and shared my thoughts. I have a two-year contract and as for my choice, I am 100 percent in favor of staying. But that is not for me to decide. The Board of Directors will give its assessments, we must continue working as always”.
