On Friday, June 2, the third round began at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament in Paris. There were 16 matches: eight for men in the top half of the group and for women in the bottom half. The first racket in the world Carlos Alcaras, the 22-time winner of the Slams Novak Djokovic and eight tennis players and tennis players from Russia had their fights. Not everyone made it to the next round. But first things first! Let’s take a look at the layouts, schedule and tournament grids.
Results of the sixth day. June 2, Friday
Russian tennis fans were looking forward to Friday with great impatience. Indeed, on this day, two of our athletes fought in the third round and, had they been successful, would have met in a head-to-head encounter in the fourth round. At first, it all came down to this. Andrei Rublev (seventh seed) and Karen Khachanov each took two sets from their rivals, but then the problems began. Both lost the third set, in the fourth they reached the tie-break. And if Karen was able to overcome the difficult Australian Tanasi Kokkinakis and achieve victory in the match, then Rublev in a duel with Italian Lorenzo Sonego lost the fourth game, and then the fifth, and with him the whole fight. And now on Sunday, instead of the Khachanov-Rublev match, Karen will meet Sonego. Well, Karen became the best among Russian men for the third TBSH in a row. At the US Open-2022 and the Australian Open-2023, she reached the semifinals. I wonder at what stage the current Roland Garros will end.
