On March 30, 2024, the first defeat in the career of Kostya Tszyu’s son occurred. Timofey lost by split decision to Sebastian Fundora. The defeat was very disappointing, as the decisive factor was the cut that the boxer received. Tim, even in spite of it, fought with all his might and tried to rectify the situation. But in the end, he lost, losing both his title and the opportunity to win a second belt. As a result, he had to take a break and go into the shadows. Tim practically did not appear in the information space and also did not sit without announced fights.

And Kostya’s son was literally covered in blood for a long time. However, Tim did not give up and fought to the very end, and was close to victory. Of course, he no longer had enough strength to finish off – the fighter had lost too much blood. But still, he looked extremely dignified.
Now Tim is ready to get back in the ring and prove himself in practice once again. He will fight his next fight on September 22. He will compete in Australia in an IBF junior middleweight eliminator. At the moment, Thiem’s opponent has not yet been determined, but Erickson Lubin and Jesus Ramos are being considered. And, frankly, this is not the former champion’s main opposition. It seems that the team deliberately selected opponents with whom they could achieve the safest and most painless return possible.

Another circumstance seems more interesting. Tim, after an unsuccessful fight in the United States, quickly decided to return to Australia. And there, so far, almost all victories were achieved with a huge safety margin. But it was the move to the United States that was supposed to be the main breakthrough in the boxer’s career. There Tszyu managed to fight two fights. And after the first defeat, the decision was made to return to the “native walls”. In Australia, the most comfortable conditions are definitely created for Tim. There are no problems with refereeing, which is actually “home”. But will this help a boxer’s career?

Of course, a good record and a large number of victories are the status of any athlete. But the level of opposition also matters. So far in Tim’s career there have not been many fights with the prefix “super”. Therefore, his value has not yet been proven in practice. In addition, the first serious test, albeit for objective reasons, failed. And now it is important to do quality work on mistakes. However, this had to be done in more difficult conditions. And the next fight may turn out to be too “hothouse”.
